Having the right products and suppliers can make or break how good your composite decking looks and how well it functions. At Best Deck, we use the best product and have more than 50 years of experience in similar and related industries with 20 years’ experience in composite products themselves; assuring you of the highest quality. And, because we know this industry so well, we’re sharing 10 questions one should ask a supplier or installer that you should ask before settling on the one for you.
1. Are you qualified to install the decking?
It’s possible for anyone to claim to be able to install your decking. But, this comes at a huge price tag if things go wrong. Ignore any claims on the guarantee if the products have not been installed according to their exact installation specifications. Of course, there is no one better to install the product than the company that supplies it.
Best Deck offers turnkey solutions. We take responsibility for and guarantee the supply and installation of this scope of your project. We also have preferred accredited installers that we confidently recommend.
2. Do you offer warranties on your materials?
You need to ensure that the product and service that you’re paying for are backed by a written guarantee. The period of the warranty may differ slightly from one company to the other, so ensure that you understand the terms and conditions. It’s also a good idea to check if the actual work is under any warranty.
3. Does your decking come in different colours?
Each supplier has their own range of colours. But, too many options usually mean that adequate stock is not readily available to the client. At Best Deck, we keep it simple and offer light brown, dark brown, light grey, and dark grey. We are also excited that an off-white mottled wood grain plank is on the way. Because of our standard and substantial stock, Best Deck can always supply the same colour planks to clients that require large or small orders.
4. Is it easy to clean?
A deck can look beautiful until it becomes encrusted with dirt. And, when it creates the first impression of your property, it’s even more important to keep it clean. Opt for a product that is easy to clean and maintain, such as the composite wood decking from Best Deck.
5. How durable are your products?
Composite wood products are non-slip, making them ideal to put around swimming pools, water features, and other wet areas. The products are also maintenance-free, requiring little more than a wash every now and then. In addition, we offer extended guarantees and expert installation to add life and quality to your composite wood product.
6. Do you have samples for me to take?
By taking a variety of samples, you can see the composite wood products in the environment in which you’ll be using them. This will give you an idea of how the surface looks, how vivid or muted the colours are, and what goes best with them in terms of accessories. Best Deck send daily samples all over the country at our cost to make choosing and buying our product that much easier. To receive your sample, simply email us at [email protected].
7. Will you give me a full quote before I agree?
Make sure that you have a full and accurate picture of exactly how much the entire job will cost before signing on any dotted lines. Leave no gaps for nasty surprises later on. Of course, your needs may change as the project progresses, and these changes should be taken into account. But, try to get as close to an accurate final figure as possible from your composite decking suppliers.
8. Do you have references?
Ask to see references for some objective feedback on previous jobs done by the composite wood suppliers that you approach for quotes. At Best Deck, we are proud of the Testimonial page on our website, which is unmatched in our industry – locally or in the rest of Africa, where we are doing more work on a regular basis.
9. How long will it take to finish the project?
Try to get a time commitment from the date on which you sign the go-ahead until completion. Of course, anything could happen and there may be unexpected delays. But, with some timeframe in your written contract, it gives you room to insist on work being done in time (within reason).
10. Who is my point of contact?
Be clear on the specific person that you will be dealing with to arrange the work, and in the case of any problems. This will save you time and possible frustration.

More than this, we work on large-scale commercial and residential projects with reputable industry leaders like WBHO, Tri-Star Construction and many others.
