Steyn City is literally a new city that is being developed between Johannesburg and Pretoria. It’s all about creating a luxury lifestyle; where residents can live, eat, shop, play and work in a place of peace and beauty. And we couldn’t be prouder and more excited to announce that Best Deck has been awarded the contract to build and install the composite wood decking, balustrades, pergolas and sun screening throughout this impressive development.
Best Deck is Awarded the Composite Wood Aspect for this Development
This extensive project went out to tender. After a lot of innovation and design assistance, Best Deck invited SCAD (Steyn City Architecture & Design), in a joint venture with dmb Architects and Boogertman and Partners, to our outdoor showroom. They were impressed by our quality and product design, but the most impressive part was a specific finishing detail that had no visible fixings to our 90-degree step-edged detail and decking in general. In fact, they went as far as to say that it was, by far, the best finishing detail they’d ever seen.
After many meetings, discussions and negotiations, Best Deck was awarded this contract – quite possibly the largest composite wood project ever awarded in Africa. We are on site and we’re working in close contact with the main contractor, GD Irons Construction.
The Project
What initially began as a composite wood decking project expanded into something a lot more extensive, and we’re thrilled to assist the architects and the developer in this regard. Best Deck will install in excess of 1100 square metres of decking, almost 1000 square metres of balustrades and sun screens, and 1250 square metres of pergolas. Together, this creates a look that is natural, tasteful and contemporary.
It is also easy to clean, safe to use (thanks to being splinter-free and crack-resistant) and practically maintenance-free. This goes beyond the gorgeous aesthetics of our product and will set Steyn City apart in terms of its composite wood features.
We will complete phase 1 of the decking fairly soon. Then, Best Deck will install the balustrades and, once that is done, we will tackle the pergolas. We are on track to be completed in good time, ensuring that Steyn City is ready and beautiful, as per the contract.
